Parents are the first teachers for their children and need resources to help them navigate schooling as it advances with technology, artificial intelligence and advanced learning.  Dr. William Darity, Professor and Director of the Research Network at Duke hosted Parent Nights on campus for parents who are interested in summer camps and resources for using at home.  Margaret, Gayle, Director of AAGC and Project Manager, Bright IDEA presented a futurist’s look at preparing Scholars for a Lifetime and then shared other resources.

Parental involvement is critical in the education of their children and need relevant information and communication with Educators. Children come into the world learning and develop interest at a very young age; parents need to know your interests, and what they are curious about. Helping children pursue their interests over a period of time will leave them in to read and continue learning on their own.   Parents can find excellent curriculum resources on this website to supplement the classroom.

Curriculum Units are based on a fiction or nonfiction book and developed around a key important Concept.

Excellent activities, projects and resources are in each unit.

Other resources on the site provide information on research related to reading, how children learn, and issues around metal health and well-being.
